Raised in Alabama, Andrew grew up playing in local bands & performing at a young age. His early studies were on classical guitar. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham on the Stevie Wonder Scholarship, where he earned his Bachelor of Music with a Concentration in Music Technology in 2021. It was also during this time that Andrew became one of the most in-demand guitarists in the Birmingham area, performing all styles of music from pop, rock, & country, to musical theater & jazz professionally. During his capstone semester at UAB Andrew had the opportunity to intern & work with Stevie Wonder’s former music director, Henry Panion III, in his recording studio, Audiostate 55.
Andrew attended the University of North Texas where he earned his Master of Music in Jazz Studies. During his time at North Texas, Andrew has had many amazing opportunities to perform with artists such as Micheal League (leader of Snarky Puppy) & Rufus Reid. Although only recently relocated to DFW, Andrew has quickly become a top-call guitarist in the DFW area and can be seen performing all across the metroplex both as a versatile side-man & band leader.
Andrew is an experienced multi-instrumentalist and award-winning educator. He is proficient in piano, bass and ukulele and welcomes students who want to learn these instruments in his studio. Andrew served as teaching fellow at the University of North Texas’ ‘Commercial Lab Band’ from 2022-2024. Under his direction the ensemble earned the Downbeat Magazine student award for ‘Best Blues/Pop/Rock Group’ in 2023. Andrew has years of private teaching experience, and has taught students of all ages. He takes pride in helping students learn & master their favorite songs. Andrew also has served as an international clinician, teaching the University of Chihuahua Mexico’s summer improvisation camp.
As a teacher, Andrew loves seeing students build confidence through music. To Andrew, the process of learning music is a life-changing opportunity for students to gain perspective on themselves & the world. The chance to share that with students is his greatest joy.
Andrew’s hobbies include walking his cat Tofu, reading books, & occasionally playing video games between gigs.
