Ethan Nguyen is an active performer and educator in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Throughout the years, his sound has been described as patient and highly attuned, unfolding with a lyrical sensibility that weaves its way through every note.

Born and raised in South Florida, Ethan began playing piano at the age of five. It was during this formative time that one of his earliest mentors introduced him to the sounds of jazz improvisation. From then on, he was captivated and nurtured a deep passion for both classical and jazz music. Ethan earned his bachelor’s in piano performance from the University of Florida. There, he received the prestigious Frances Millikan Reitz Award, an annual honor awarded to the most outstanding undergraduate music student.

He went on to earn his master’s in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. Through UNT, he had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Miguel Zenón, Andre Hayward, and Mark Walker. He also performed at venues including the Midwest Clinic, Jazz Showcase, JEN Conference, and TMEA Convention.

Ethan offers lessons to students of all ages and experience backgrounds. As an educator, he values curiosity, artistic freedom, collaboration, and above all, remembering to enjoy the gift of music. He empowers his students to think independently as musicians and uses a personalized approach to ensure that each student is prepared for wherever their musical journey might take them. Ethan is so thrilled to meet his students and can’t wait to help them thrive musically.
