Georgia Barge

Georgia Barge is a vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and songwriter pursuing a BA in Jazz Voice at the University of North Texas. She grew up in Kansas City Missouri, where she was incredibly active in musical theatre, choral, and compositional opportunities in her community. She has been performing since elementary school, playing in church, festivals, and sporting events as a solo artist and band mate. Georgia became involved in her school’s theatre program early on, where she notably played Sarah in Guys and Dolls, Ella in Cinderella, and Donna in Mamma Mia. In 2022, she won best Actress in a Lead Role at the Kansas City Blue Star Awards for her portrayal of Donna, sending her to New York City for the Jimmy Awards, a national high school musical theatre competition. There, she performed on the Broadway Minskoff Stage and studied with specialists of the field at the Juilliard School. In 2021, she was a national finalist for the Classical Singer Magazine competition and she has been recognized nationally for her original compositions. Georgia performs frequently around the DFW area, accompanying her voice on both piano and guitar. In addition to her solo performances, she is a vocalist in the UNT Jazz Singers, which most recently won a 2024 Downbeat Award for Outstanding Performance. At North Texas, she has sung with both the 4 and 7 O’Clock Lab Bands and the Commercial Music Lab Band. This past February, she performed with the famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Georgia has been private teaching for years, including coaching for voice, piano, guitar, and songwriting. As a musician who started early in her life, she is a strong believer in the importance of building confidence in her students. She doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all teaching style, but rather she caters to the individual student and their own goals.
