Born and raised in North Richland Hills, Texas, Jordan Proffer is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist with a history in both performing and teaching a variety of musical genres. In 2022, Jordan was chosen as the 2022 Yamaha Young Performing Artist Drumset Winner as well as one of ten finalists for the 2022 PASIC Drumset Competition. He has toured with award winning trombonist Nick Finzer as well as jazz fusion guitarist Peter Autschbach in Germany. During his time at the University of North Texas, Jordan was a member of the Grammy award winning One O’ Clock Lab Band, and deeply studied the jazz tradition with Quincy Davis, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban drumming with Jose Aponte, and Indian drumming with Poovalur Sriji. He also received classical and jazz training on piano.
Although music may be his job, Jordan plays out of his love for music and his craft. He believes in playing music to unite people from all around the world and to inspire others to create. His first single, Keep Pushing, featuring Shaun Martin(Snarky Puppy, Kirk Franklin), illustrates his love for his first instruments, piano and guitar. After serving as a guitarist at The Hills Church for 6 years, he has been the primary drummer for the past 4 years. In addition to CCM, Jordan is also experienced in gospel music, having played at various churches including Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Jordan leads his own jazz fusion/R&B group, The Proffs, who had a weekly residency at the Free Man Cajun Cafe in 2023. He also leads a jazz group that performs at various venues as well as private events, including events for the Fort Worth Boat Club. Weekly, Jordan performs at weddings with various DFW-based party bands such as Jordan Kahn Music Company, Cover Down, and DryWater Band.
As an avid composer, Jordan primarily composes jazz, R&B, and gospel influenced music for his own groups. He also produces film scores, 80’s rock/pop, hip-hop, and electronic music.
Jordan is an experienced clinician for drumlines and various percussion groups, having led multiple drumline and All-State camps at Birdville High School, Ranchview High School, and Braswell High School.
