Katelyn Robinson is an award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and educator originally from Los Angeles, California.

In 2019 Robinson began her studies in the Jazz Voice program at the University of North Texas (UNT) where she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in 2023. She is a current Jazz Voice Graduate Teaching Fellow at UNT working under the direction of renowned educators Rosana Eckert and Jennifer Barnes, as she pursues her Master’s degree (graduating May 2025). Some of her duties include being a private instructor to several undergraduate students, directing vocal jazz ensembles, and assisting with other courses. She also has years of experience teaching voice and piano privately with students of all ages.

During her undergraduate degree, Katelyn was a member of the flagship vocal jazz ensemble UNT Jazz Singers, where she was a featured soloist on the group’s latest album I Carry Your Heart. She was also the vocalist for the Grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band. In addition to being recognized as a soloist in both ensembles, Robinson was highlighted as a songwriter and arranger. In 2022 UNT Jazz Singers performed and recorded Katelyn’s original composition and arrangement “Soul-Tied Strangers.” Shortly after another original of hers, “Queen Dee Dee’s Samba,” was released on the One O’Clock Lab Band Album Lab 2023.

Over the years Katelyn has received several honors such as being a Women in Jazz Organization Mentee (2020) where she studied with Manhattan Transfer vocalist Janis Siegel and holding the vocalist chair of the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Big Band (2023) directed by jazz bassist Christian McBride.

The musicians and educators Katelyn has worked with have profoundly impacted her artistry and teaching philosophy. As an educator, she aims to foster confidence, strong musicianship, resilience, and the ability to self-teach in all her students. She accomplishes this by creating a safe and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable taking chances and asking questions. Katelyn believes the skills students develop in music lessons (patience, determination, problem-solving, creativity, and communication) can create a lifelong love for music and set them up for success in whatever direction their future takes them.
