Nico is string player and educator, both for classical andcreative/jazz musical contexts. In 2023 he received a bachelor’s degreein String Music Education under Dr. Elizabeth Chappell, supervised by mentorand colleague Dr. Eugen Kim, with whom he developed and applied pedagogicalskills in jazz string education, a field he plans to revolutionize in itsintegration into K-12 music education through ear training and cultivatingintuitive musicianship. In 2023,
Nico student taught in Frisco, Texas, at Centennial High School,where he further grew as an educator. During his undergraduate studies, hegained much experience in the areas of performance, education, andcomposition.
In March of 2022, he was chosen to perform with legendary vocalistKurt Elling in his historic collaboration with composer Richard DeRosa in “Lifein Poetry and Music”. His skills in jazz composition were honed in his studieswith renowned vocalist Rosana Eckert, with whom he produced a variety oforiginal demos of live and electronic music.
Currently, he is finishing up his Master's Degree in Jazz Studiesat the University of North Texas specializing in Jazz Cello Performance underthe tutelage of his mentor, Grammy Award-winning jazz violinist, Scott Tixier.
