Nolan Ortinau

Nolan is a musician and educator from St. Louis, Missouri with a deep passion for all things music. Coming from a musical family, he has been surrounded by music his entire life. He began singing at a young age and started exploring instruments at age 11, eventually settling on guitar as his primary instrument by age 14, all while continuing to sing in various musical settings. His upbringing in church music played a significant role in shaping his musicianship and versatility.

Nolan is deeply passionate about education and has a natural ability to connect with students. With several years of experience tutoring K–12 students in math, he discovered that the key to learning—whether in academics or music—is making the process engaging and enjoyable. He brings this same philosophy into his music teaching, emphasizing patience, self-expression, and the importance of having fun while learning. For Nolan, music is not just about technical skill—it’s a powerful outlet for creativity and personal growth.

Currently pursuing a degree in the prestigious Jazz Studies program at the University of North Texas, Nolan has developed a strong foundation in jazz while continuing to explore a wide range of styles, including funk and R&B. At UNT, he has honed skills in arranging, producing, improvisation, and music theory. He has performed in a variety of ensemble settings—from accompanying a string orchestra to being one of five guitarists in an all-guitar ensemble. Whether performing as a guitarist, vocalist, or both, he brings energy and creativity to every musical setting.

Nolan is excited to help students develop their musical skills, build confidence, and discover their own voice through music. Whether working with beginners or more advanced players, he tailors his lessons to each student’s goals and learning style—ensuring they enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
